About the Compress Image tool
Images are usually the heaviest part of a web page, an email or a document. A single photo straight from a modern phone can be 4–12 MB, which slows down websites, fills up storage and gets rejected by upload forms. Compress Image reduces that size, often by 60–90%, with a difference you will struggle to see.
Use the quality slider to choose the trade-off between size and detail, and optionally cap the width so huge camera photos are scaled to a sensible size at the same time. Every image is processed by your own browser, so even hundreds of personal photos stay private. A results table shows the before and after size of each file.
How to compress images
- Select your images or drag them into the box. You can add many at once.
- Set the quality slider — 70–80% is ideal for most photos.
- Optionally choose an output format and a maximum width.
- Click Compress images, review the savings and download the results or a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions
Will compressed images look worse?
At 70–80% quality, most people cannot see any difference on screen, while the file is a fraction of the size. Very low settings (below 40%) can create visible blockiness.
Why did my PNG become a WebP?
PNG is a lossless format that cannot be compressed by a quality setting. Automatic mode converts PNGs to WebP, which supports transparency and is usually much smaller. Choose JPG if you need maximum compatibility.
Is there a limit on the number of images?
No fixed limit. Processing happens on your device, so very large batches simply take a little longer.
Do you keep my photos?
No. Your images never leave your browser and nothing is stored on our servers.
